Latin American UFC fighters did not shy away from pressure as they put up impressive performances on Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 36 event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mexican cage warrior Manuel Torres led the list of impressive performers who clobbered Frank Camacho with a brutal combination at the 3:27 mark of the first round. With the victory, Torres improves to 13-2 (win-loss) in his career and extends his finish streak in his octagon debut.
Not to be outdone were Brazilians Virna Jandiroba and Viviane Araujo, who picked up convincing wins over their opponents. Jandiroba scored a 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 unanimous decision victory over Angela Hill, while Araujo defeated Andrea Lee 29-28, 29-27, 29-27.
Also picking up a unanimous decision win was Brazilian flyweight Allan Nascimento who defeated Jake Hadley 30-27, 30-27, 30-27.
However, it wasn’t a perfect night for the Brazilians as Amanda Ribas and Alan Patrick suffered gut-wrenching losses. Ribas lost via split decision to Katlyn Chookagian, while Patrick was knocked out by Michael Johnson at the 3:22 mark of the second round.
