Published on

Sheilla Castro, 38 years old, has just ended her professional volleyball career! On April 9, one of volleyball’s all-time greats took her final steps on the court.

Sheilla, the opposite hitter and a two-time Olympic champion, has finally finished her professional career, which spanned over 25 years! So, at the age of 38, the phenomenon that defined one of Brazil’s best generations of athletes announced her retirement from active competition, a move she had been planning for some time.

Sheilla has established herself as one of the most well-known athletes in Brazil. Sheilla led Brazil’s Women to gold medals at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012. She played her last game last Saturday, nearly 6 years since she announced her retirement from the national team. She participated in seven FIVB World Grand Prix and South American Championships, three Pan-American Cups, one Pan American Games, and two FIVB World Grand Champions Cups for Brazil.
