Brazilian Women To Open VNL Season Against Germany

Brazilian Women To Open VNL Season Against Germany

The revenge tour is about to begin.

On May 31st, the Brazil women’s national volleyball team is set to begin Volleyball Nations League play with a match against Germany. Historically, Brazil has dominated international competition. They have won a record 11 FIVB World Grand Prix championship titles and were the gold medallists at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. However, the VNL is one title they just haven’t been able to win.

Last season, Brazil sought to finally bounce back after losing to the United States in the title round in 2019, and the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And they did bounce back initially, managing to advance all the way to the finals where they sadly lost again to the United States.

Brazilian volleyball fans hope that the third time is in fact the charm and that the team will finally win the VNL. Brazil’s May 31st matchup against Germany will air at 18:00 GMT on VBTV.
