Miguel Angel Lopez Wins Superliga MVP

Lopez Wins Superliga MVP

Last weekend, Sada Cruzeiro Volei defeated Fiat Gerdau Minas to win their seventh Superliga title, and Cuban Miguel Angel Lopez was named the league’s Most Valuable Player.

“This was an amazing season and such an important result,” said Lopez. “It was my first Superliga final and I really wanted to win it. We were able to create a really united group with our players and coaching staff and left everything on the court every match of the season.”

Though just 25-years-old, the Cuban outside hitter has already amassed an impressive trophy case. Lopez broke onto the international scene at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. After a few years playing in Argentina, Lopez joined Sada Cruzeiro in 2020. In his two years with the club, Sada Cruzeiro has won multiple national and international competitions, including last year’s Men’s Club World Championship, where Lopez also earned MVP honours.

Given his age and athleticism, Lopez should remain a volleyball force for years to come.

A lifelong fan of the MLB, NBA, NFL, NCAA, and volleyball, Nathan began working as a sportswriter in 2022. He also enjoys writing poetry and has had work featured in several publications, including UpChat, Infection House, Headline, and Fleas on the Dog.
