Brazilian volleyball fans are in for a treat.
The Volleyball World Pro Beach Tour Kuşadası Challenge is set to begin on Thursday. Playing amidst a large and illustrious field of competitors, two of Brazil’s volleyball greats will join forces.
At 36 years old, Pedro Solberg has been a fixture in Brazilian volleyball for 20 years. Solberg burst onto the international beach volleyball scene by winning a U-18 championship in 2002, followed by U-21 titles in 2003 and 2006. In 2008, Solberg also won an FIVB Tour Championship with Harley Marques Silva.
Joining Solberg will be Arthur Mariano. A full decade younger than Solberg, Mariano has eight years of international play under his belt. He won two FIVB AGWC tournaments with George Wanderley in 2014 and 2016.
This will be Solberg and Mariano’s seventh Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour event together. Despite their skill and experience, they’ve never finished higher than ninth, so it will be exciting to see how this match pans out.
