Women’s Update -VB World Beach Pro Tour Ostrava

Published on

The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite 16 event in Ostrava, Czech Republic is underway. Let’s take a look at how the women’s side is doing.

Tainá Silva Bigi and Victoria Pereira Lopes Tosta formed one of five Brazilian duos hoping to take home the gold in Ostrava. Unfortunately for Bigi and Tosta, they became the first of those squads to be eliminated, falling in the qualification phase to Japan’s Sayaka Mizoe and Miki Ishii.

However, the Brazilians didn’t go down without a fight. Bigi played particularly well, racking up 23 total points. Unfortunately for the Brazilian squad, they just didn’t have an answer for Mizoe. The Japanese star posted an astounding 30 attack points across three sets.

Ishii was no slouch either, committing only one error in the match. The Brazilians did their best to hold on, but Mizoe and Ishii ultimately claimed a 2-1 victory (16-21, 21-14, 15-12).

The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite 16 event in Ostrava will run all week with championship matches on Sunday, May 29th. Volleyball fans can watch live matches on VBTV.
