Another NBA blockbuster trade happened between the Mavericks and the Rockets. With time flying by, the Mavs understood they might not take full advantage of Luka Dončić’s potential and they went on to acquire Christian Wood from the Rocket’s squad. In exchange, the Rockets will receive the No.26 pick, Boban Marjanović, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, and Marquese Chriss. Although none of these got enough playing time for the Mavs, they were part of the seasonal rotation which might affect the team in the upcoming season.
On the other hand, with Christian Wood on the roster, this might open even more spaces for Luka Dončić who will surely need some extra help for the years ahead. The 26-year-old center will finally get his chance to shine at American Airlines Center after spending his entire career with teams fighting in the bottom half of their respective Conference. He averaged a career-high 21 points in his first season with the Rockets and found his first average double-double the very next year finishing off with 17.9 points and 10.1 rebounds. The Mavs’ newest addition showcases strong physical attributes and decent basketball intelligence on both ends.
