Bracho returns to the majors, joins the Red Sox

Right-handed pitcher Silvino Bracho is making his triumphant return to the major leagues after being chosen by the Boston Red Sox to its MLB roster.

To make room for Bracho on its active roster, the Red Sox are demoting Connor Seabold to Triple-A’s Worcester. Boston had an open spot on its 40-man roster after placing Jarren Duran and Tanner Houck on the restricted list earlier this week.

The 29-year-old Bracho made his last appearance in the majors two years ago when he played for the Arizona Diamondbacks. In his time in the big leagues, he tallied a 4.82 ERA (48 ER/89.2 IP) in 92 appearances.

The Venezuelan pitcher signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox in February and has been spending time with its Triple-A squad, Worcester.

Most recently, Bracho recorded 2.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts in last week’s Triple-A match against Charlotte.

Bracho has posted an average of 3.16 ERA (11 ER/31.1 IP) and 10.34 strikeouts per nine innings over 18 appearances for Worchester this season.
