Julio Rodríguez, Rhys Hoskins named MLB Players of the Week

Seattle Mariners outfielder Rodríguez and Philadelphia Phillies’ first baseman Rhys Hoskins were recognized as the MLB Players of the Week on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old Hoskins bagged the award for the first time in his career after posting league-leading averages of four home runs, 1.158 slugging percentage and 1.678 OPS last week.

During that span, Hoskins also recorded 17 extra-base hits, 17 runs, 17 RBIs, and 17 walks while leading the Phillies to a superb 17-9 (win-loss) record.

Not to be outdone is Rodríguez who joined first baseman Ty France as the only Mariners to be named Players of the Week this season.

Rodríguez recorded 1.273 OPS with three homers, seven runs, and six RBIs last week. He also added one stolen base to his AL-leading tally of 20 steals.

Over the past 48 games, the 21-year-old Dominican has posted an excellent slash line of .299/.356/.598 with 14 dingers and 32 RBIs.

On Monday against the San Diego Padres, Rodríguez became the first player since 1900 with 15 HRs and 20 steals in his first career in 81 games.
