Latin American legends Pujols, Cabrera named special roster additions for All-Star Game

Latin American legends Pujols, Cabrera named special roster additions for All-Star Game

Latin American baseball icons Miguel Cabrera and Albert Pujols will be making their final All-Star appearances on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.

This is after MLB commissioner Rob Manfred named Cabrera and Pujols as legacy selections for the 92nd All-Star Game.

It will be the first All-Star appearance since 2015 for the 42-year-old Pujols, who had to give the opportunity a moment’s thought before agreeing to play.

“From the moment I got an opportunity to get drafted and make it to the big leagues, none of this was ever in my thoughts, but I’ve been able to accomplish so much,” said the Dominican Pujols, who won MVP awards in 2005, 2008, and 2009 seasons.

Also joining Pujols is the Venezuelan star Cabrera, who reiterated that he was not going to decline another trip to the All-Star Game.

“It was easy. It was easy because next year is going to be my last year in baseball. So, to say no to this opportunity was going to be hard. It was an easy choice,” said the two-time MVP Cabrera.
