Nationals offer Juan Soto 13-year $425 contract extension

The Washington Nationals have taken their efforts of keeping Juan Soto in the nation’s capital up a notch.

This after the Nationals extended a whopping 13-year $425 million extension offer to the 23-year old Soto.

It can be recalled that the Dominican outfielder turned down a 13-year $350 contract in the offseason in the hopes of signing a deal after the 2024 season.

“We’re going to attack a deal with Juan Soto. This is his team. He’s the face of the franchise. I want him here for the long term. We’re going to continue to talk and try to make him a Nat for a long time,” Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said.

The $425 million contract would be the second-largest deal inked in MLB history behind only Mike Trout’s $426.5 million agreement.

Soto, who is coming off a National League MVP runner-up finish last season, is currently making $17.1 million. He has a batting average of .224 together with 14 homers and 32 RBIs in 76 games this season.  Soto is a beloved player and fan favorite for the Nationals and many are excited to see what will happen now he is fully committed to the team after signing this massive contract.
