Chet Holmgren is probably the most recognizable name in the NBA 2022 draft, this may be due to the fact that the 7’0” center has been balling since he was in high school or due to his long and lanky frame. Holmgren had many criticisms going into Gonzaga as many thought his frame and stature would not be ready for this level of basketball. Despite this criticism as a freshman he managed to put up 14.1 PPG, 9.9 PPG and for a center, he shot an impressive 39% from the three. Holmgren has declared for the NBA draft and lots of analysts can sem being selected with the number one pick if a team that needs a center gets lucky enough to go first.
Holmgren has drawn comparisons to “The Unicorn”, Kristaps Porzingis due to his similar body frame and playstyle as the modern big man. There is the worry that due to Holmgren’s frame he may be riddled with injuries which will really hinder his career like Porzingis.
Analysts can see Holmgren fitting nicely with the Oklahoma City Thunder as they are in need of a center currently, but a team that would also suit Holmgren would be the Charlotte Hornets if they were able to make the right trades on draft day.
