FISU America 3×3 to be held in Lima after two-year hiatus

After a two-year break, the International Federation of University Sports (FISU) America 3×3 basketball tournament returns this July in Peru.

The official announcement will be made at next Tuesday’s press conference (April 19) at the University of San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) Campus 2 in La Molina, wherein personnel from the University Sports Federation of Peru, USIL and FISU America are expected to be in attendance.

Matches for the region’s most prestigious college basketball tournament will take place at the USIL’s Center for Academic, Athletic and Research High Performance in Pachakmak from July 17 to 23.

While organizers have yet to release the list of participating teams, it is expected that the tournament will attract multiple clubs as the winner will punch an automatic ticket to the 3×3 Universiade Basketball World Cup in Xiamen, People’s Republic of China.

In its last installment, the FISU America 3×3 competition held in Maceio, Brazil attracted 23 teams from seven countries, an increase of six from the 17 that participated in 2018 in El Salvador.
