Flamengo obliterates Minas to win the series

Flamengo became the first NBB finalist for this season after defeating their close rivals from Minas. The team from Rio de Janeiro came up huge in the third game and after leading with 18 points halfway through the third quarter, they closed out the series. Flamengo was more consistent towards the end of the season and despite losing three matches in a row against Minas prior to their meeting in the Playoffs, they literally faced no troubles whatsoever.

Brandon Robinson and Dar Tucker ended up with 16 points each for the winners, as the latter recorded a 7-9 shooting. Guilherme Pereira Deodato managed to drop 18 points for Minas, but he didn’t get much help from his teammates, which eventually resulted in this huge loss. Shaquille Johnson and Tavario Miller were somewhat decent as they both finished off with 14 points. However, in the end, Minas’ hopes were destroyed mainly due to their inconsistency and inability to play at a high level under pressure. Flamengo awaits the winner between Franca and Sao Paulo in the NBB Finals. The record holders of 7 championships will try to add one more to their collection at the end of this year.
