Jalisco scores eighth victory, keeps lead in CIBACOPA standings

Astros dominate Rayos

The Jalisco Astros banked on the offensive skills of American import Jordan Loveridge to clobber the Rayos de Hermosillo 92-72 on Monday at the Sonora Arena in the Pacific Coast Basketball Circuit (CIBACOPA).

Loveridge secured 22 points, five assists, and four rebounds to help the Astros score its eighth victory. With the win, Jalisco improved to an 8-2 score to stay on top of the standings.

Both teams opened the game on a solid note, with the Astros only taking a one-point lead after the first half. However, in the second, the home team started to pull away as they headed into the break with a 42-32 lead, highlighted by five three-point shots.

Astros continued to tighten the defensive screws in the second half by outscoring the Rayos 50-40 and holding them to a dismal five-for-28 shooting from the three-point range to secure the win.

Forward Irwin Avalos added 16 points, four rebounds, and one assist for Jalisco, who will see Rayos again on Wednesday at 10:15 p.m.
