Leones deals Cariduros first loss of the BSN season

Leones leads the BSN standings

Leones de Ponce overcame a double-digit deficit in the second half to hand Cariduros de Fajardo its first defeat of the season 83-78 on Wednesday at the Tomas Dones Coliseum in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN).

Versatile guard Jezreel de Jesus unloaded 27 points, including Leones’s last four in the final minute of the game, to help the Ponce improve to a 4-1and tie for the lead in the Section A standings.

Down by 11 in third, Leones managed to cut the lead down to one after a three-point bomb from point-guard Luis Lopez. De Jesus gave the road squad the lead 68-67 in the next possession with five minutes to play.

Cariduros tried to stay right within striking distance, even taking a 78-76 advantage but it proved to be its last taste of the lead. Alex Abreu scored a three-point shot in the next offensive sequence before de Jesus sealed the deal with just 26.6 seconds left.
