Penarol goes through to the Uruguayan Semi-Finals

Penarol defeated Malvin in the Playoffs

The 5-time Uruguayan champion and the best performing team throughout the last decade in their country, Malvin, came up just short against Penarol who are still looking for their first title since 1982. John Flowers led the way for his team in the deciding Game 5 after finishing off with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Orlando Mendez-Valdez and Salvador Zanotta both added double-figures for the final victory as they dropped 12 points and 10 points, respectively.

The American duo for Malvin, Anthony Hilliard, and Emmitt Holt came really close to wrapping up the upset in the end, but their combined 35 points were not enough. Nicola Pomoli can also be frustrated with the result as he was the only player with a double-double on Tuesday night, dropping 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. The Uruguayans, Juan Santiso, and Kiril Wachsmann will most likely take the blame as they made only 3 out of 17 shots throughout the deciding match in Larre Borges in Montevideo. Penarol awaits in the Semi-Finals the winner of the series between Goes and Aguada as they will go face-to-face one last time on Friday in Game 5.
