Piratas overcome Brujos to climb into first place

Piratas was looking to forget their last couple of games in the BSN as they suffered three losses out of four matches. The team from Quebradillas has shown some great potential at the beginning of the season, starting off with 7 wins and 1 loss and they once again needed a victory to claim the top spot in Group A, despite the negative points difference.

Piratas went on the road against the sixth-seeded team of Brujos, who have been struggling to pick up victories from the beginning of the campaign. So far, the team from Guayama has shown strength and determination against strong opponents like Leones de Ponce and even Piratas in a match that went into overtime and was won by the Quebradillas side by a single point in the end.

In the game on Wednesday, Jamil Wilson topped the scoring list with 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Phillip Wheeler drained a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the final victory for Piratas, 69-72. Christopher Ortiz and Terrico White added 15 points and 13 points, respectively, for the struggling Brujos, who are still looking to pick up their momentum this season.
