The Golden State Warriors win the experience battle

The Golden State Warriors will face off against the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals starting tonight in the Chase Center, San Francisco. This will be their sixth NBA Finals in the last 8 years showing their immense experience on such a big stage. Overall, their players have played in a total of 123 NBA Finals matches, while the current Celtics squad have zero experience when it comes to Finals.

However, this might be a two-edged sword as the last time the Warriors reached the climax of the season, they were outclassed by a healthier and quite inexperienced Raptors squad. Despite having Kawhi Leonard who is considered one of the better players in the NBA, the Raptors also had to rely on players like Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet who were rising stars with little to no experience in such big games.

The Celtics’ roster is a lot younger than the likes of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson. However, when we are talking about the biggest stage of them all, young age is rarely a benefit as the players have all the time in the world to rest for the upcoming game and perform on a high level throughout the series.
