The Youngest to Ever Do It: Celebrating 11 years of Derrick Rose

Derrick Rose won MVP 11 years ago

There are a few players in the NBA today that not many hate. In a world where everyone is entitled to their opinion and it gets shared via social media there is one name that usually sticks out of the firing range. That is former MVP, Derrick Rose. Fans have a lot of love for D Rose and he usually is applauded by the opposite team’s fans everywhere he goes. But what makes D Rose so special?

Rose was the youngest player to win the MVP win award and he did this at the meer age of 22. The Chicago native was coming off a hot rookie season which led to him being crowned the Rookie of the Year. The next season Rose came out like he had something to prove and we haven’t seen athleticism like Rose in the 2009/10 season ever since. With his performances that year he dominated the eastern conference and led his Bulls side to a playoff spot, one year after being drafted. The season Rose won MVP he put up 25 points, 7.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds. It truly was a season to remember and one that us NBA fans will never forget.

For the rest of his career Rose has been plagued by injuries and the MVP winning season was unfortunately the best we ever saw Rose. We see glimpses off this greatness now and again but it’s sad knowing how good Rose could’ve been. Many believe that he could of easily ended up in the hall of fame if he would’ve stayed healthy but unfortunately, we will never know.
