The game is scheduled to start at 01:00 BST.

Preview:

Both sides entered the tournament with brilliant teams full of individual talent which saw them billed as potential champions at the end of the saga. While this will be the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ second game in the competition, St Lucia have played a couple of games already although their season opener against the Trinidad & Tobago Red Steels had been washed out by rain.

The home side will be confident of putting up a good show for their fans after getting the better of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their earlier game on June 24. Bowling first, Fidel Edwards and Shannon Gabriel had wrecked the top four batsmen but a gutsy half-century from skipper Marlon Samuels and handy contributions lower down the order from Devon Thomas and Sohail Tanvir helped St Kitts put up a 149-run total.

St Lucia made it look easy batting second as their openers recorded an 81-run partnership which effectively ended St Kitts’ hopes. Andre Fletcher missed out on a fifty by a couple of runs as he was dismissed by Canadian spinner Nikhil Dutta, who also dismissed Kevin Pietersen on 18 runs towards the end. Fletcher’s opening partner Johnson Charles remained in the middle until the very end to take the Zouks to a seven wicket victory with more than four overs to spare.

The Warriors faced holders Barbados Tridents in the opening match of the CPL season and were the subjects of a 49-run defeat. Handy contributions from Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard and Jonathan Carter saw the Tridents put up 158 runs in their innings. However, the side never really got going in the second innings and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Ultimately they fell short of the mark by some distance and the side will be looking to rectify that.

The Warriors need to make smart decisions on the field. An area that the Guyana Amazon Warriors management must address going into this game is the fifth bowler. Tillakaratne Dilshan, Lendl Simmons, and Christopher Barnwell were disastrous for their hopes with the ball. The batsmen also need to start thinking of forming decent partnerships in the middle because that is the only way that they will make the opposition sweat.
