Bobby Beale started as a 100/1 outsider in the ‘Who Killed Lucy Beale?’ market but ended as 3/1 favourite and his revelation as the Eastenders killer has ended up costing bookmakers thousands of pounds.
Bobby Beale backers are laughing all the way to the bank, say British bookmaker Ladbrokes. Ladbrokes reported after Thursday night’s reveal that customers had “piled into” the 3/1 favourite in what was the biggest soap opera whodunit of all time. The schoolboy initially entered the market in 2014 as a rank outsider at 100/1. Ladbrokes spokesperson Jessica Bridge told Crunchsports.com: “Punters piled into Bobby’s odds in the last week and favourite backers have got their just deserts for believing a child could have killed Lucy.” She added: “We never thought a 12-year-old could cost us so much money.”
