Dan Fallows to join Aston Martin as technical director in April

Red Bull’s current head of Aerodynamics, Dan Fallows, will be joining rivals Aston Martin in April 2022 after the two teams came to an agreement.

The news that Fallows would be changing teams was announced in June 2021, but it was initially thought that the move would not take place for a while due to the time remaining on his Red Bull contract.

However, Aston Martin’s desire to have him in place sooner meant that the deal was pushed through, and Red Bull, somewhat reluctantly, has agreed.

It means that Fallows will now move into the technical director role at his new team shortly after the season has started.

Aston Martin has been trying to recruit some of Formula One’s best technical talent.

Lawrence Stroll, the team’s ambitious owner, has desires to see the Silverstone-based team racing at the front of the field.

With his continued investment, the team is now beginning to take shape behind the scenes in its efforts to be a success.

The famous Aston Martin brand returned to the sport last year, but it had an underwhelming season, finishing seventh overall in the team standings.

Fallows first joined Red Bull in 2006, initially taking on the role of Aerodynamics team leader before becoming the head in 2014.

He was part of the team’s most successful period from 2010 to 2013, when Red Bull won four consecutive constructors’ trophies – Sebastian Vettel was the drivers’ world champion for each of those years.

Fallows’ final season at the team also ended with success, as Max Verstappen won the World Championship.

His move to Aston Martin will see him link up with Vettel again, and it remains to be seen whether the move will lead to further success.
