Arsenal have suffered a frustrating few weeks in the transfer market and look set to miss out on the combination of Lisandro Martinez and Raphinha.
Although the Gunners have signed both Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieria, more signings will be needed if Arsenal are to muscle their way into the top 4 this season.
With Arsenal competing in the Europa League and the introduction of five substitutions, Arsenal needs a deeper squad and despite being stacked in the forward areas, Mikel Arteta has set his sights on Lucas Paqueta.
Paqueta who currently plays for the French side Lyon isn’t currently listed for sale, but a bid of around £60 million would likely change the Lyon board’s stance.
Paqueta was a key figure for Lyon last season and found the back of the net eleven times. A clever, creative midfielder Paqueta has the size and physicality to potentially thrive in the Premier League and could be an astute signing.
It remains to be seen whether the fee that Lyon have set is too high for Arsenal to meet.
However, if they can pull the move off, signing Paqueta would be seen as a major coup as the Gunners look to build on their 5th place finish last season.
