Lucas Paqueta suffers freak injury

Lucas Paqueta is attracting the interest of several clubs across Europe with clubs in Italy and England keen to bring the Brazilian forward to their clubs next season.

Newcastle are in the market for a statement signing following the January capture of Paqueta’s former teammate Bruno Guimarães, and many around the Tyneside club believe that Paqueta could well be that signing.

The 24-year-old has been at Lyon for the last two seasons and has scored 18 league goals in 65 appearances. A regular for Brazil, Paqueta will be hoping to add to the 33 caps he has already amassed for his country at this summer’s World Cup.

It isn’t just Newcastle who are interested as other Premier League rclubs such as Tottenham are also monitoring the Brazilians progress as are former club AC Milan.

Any transfer talk might need to be put on hold as Paqueta requires minor surgery for an injury that he picked up to his hand whilst flying a kite.

Paqueta isn’t expected to miss any of Lyon’s preseason games but it’s an injury that he and the clubs chasing him could certainly have done without.
