The 2016 Cheltenham Festival is just hours away and Sky Sports presenter Alex Hammond has revealed her tips for the first day of this year’s four-day extravaganza.
Thousands always look out for Alex’s tips, and she believes odds-on Douvan is the one to beat in the Arkle.
Writing on her Sky Sports blog, Alex said: “Douvan is odds-on and not a hugely attractive betting proposition, but there’s nothing else that really catches my eye. Last year’s Sky Bet Supreme winner is an outstanding jumper and is a straightforward horse to ride. He’s the full package.”
Of the first race of the day, the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, Alex added: “Min looks like being an opening day banker for many but, as Sky Bet are offering money back as a free bet if your horse gets beaten in the opening race on each day of the Festival, it could pay to find a better value alternative.
“There is much more to come from Min though, who it is expected to appreciate better ground. Nicky Henderson has a couple of good-looking chances, but it’s Buveur D’Air that excites me the most as he has plenty of untapped ability and at the moment the sky looks the limit. He’s a backable price in the market without Min if you want to take that route.”
My Tent Or Yours is of interest in the Champion Hurdle, while the well backed Vroum Vroum Mag is the pick in the Mares Hurdle.
Looking elsewhere on Day One, Alex says she has had a “decent each-way bet on Noble Endeavour” in the National Hunt Chase.
