Leopard Racing shows interest in replacing Suzuki in MotoGP

Moto3 powerhouse Leopard Racing has shown its interest in joining the big league and replacing Suzuki when they quit the MotoGP World Championship at the end of 2022.

The Japanese manufacturer’s shock announcement took the MotoGP world by storm on Monday after it communicated the news to its race team at the post-race test in Jerez.

Speaking on Thursday during a Moto3 and Moto2 test in Barcelona, Leopard boss Christian Lundberg said that they are monitoring the situation closely and would be happy to take Suzuki’s place if they decide to leave.

Suzuki’s request to leave MotoGP is currently in limbo as they have signed a contract through to the end of the 2026 season.

“We will see how the situation evolves, there is a contract involved and I don’t think Suzuki can leave just like that because it has signed a contract until 2026. We’ll see, but if a seat is freed up and God willing, they (Dorna Sports) give it to us, we’ll be very happy,” Lundberg said.

Should Leopard get the opportunity to join MotoGP; Lundberg added that they will be partnering with Aprilia.
