Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has warned drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg against complacency.
The Formula 1 season restarts following the summer recess this weekend with the Belgian Grand Prix.
Mercedes are in a dominant position bit Wolff is taking on board the lessons of the Hungarian Grand Prix last time out where they failed to score a podium finish despite starting from the front two positions on the grid.
Hamilton and Rosberg were outgunned when the lights went out by Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel as Mercedes’ problems on the start line continued.
They had also lost first and second places to both Williams cars at the British Grand Prix before Hamilton reclaimed first place to win.
And despite winning eight of the opening 10 races this season, Wolff says Mercedes must be on their guard.
“There are still many chances to win or lose and we must be relentless in our push to come out on top,” he said.
“There is never a moment you can take your foot off the gas and Hungary proved once again that any slip is an opportunity our rivals will grab with both hands.”
Ahead of Sunday’s race, world champion Hamilton heads teammate Rosberg by 21 points in the Drivers’ Championship, with Vettel third, 42 points back.
Mercedes also lead Ferrari by 147 points in the Constructors’ championship, and Wolff added: “With ten races down and nine to go, we enter the second half of the season with a stronger points total than at this stage last year, and yet our margin to the competition is actually smaller.”
