Canterbury v Wests Tigers Preview

– 10 Mar 2021

It has been a contrasting off-season for these clubs; the Bulldogs’ marked by the influx of a wave of new talent while the Tigers’ has been about consolidation.
Canterbury will field five new faces on Monday night while former Bulldog Matt Utai is the only newcomer to the Tigers’ line-up. Utai, who spent eight seasons with the Bulldogs, only received his call-up after regular winger Beau Ryan succumbed to groin trouble.
Trent Hodkinson and Kris Keating will field a new partnership in the Bulldogs’ halves although both know each other’s game particularly well. They played junior football together at Cabramatta and were reunited at six and seven for City Origin last season.
Hooker Michael Ennis will pack down alongside two new props, Aiden Tolman from Melbourne and giant rookie Sam Kasiano.
Logic would suggest that a settled line-up like the Tigers should have the measure of a team that is still in the building phase but there is no shortage of individual talent within the Bulldogs’ ranks.
Look to a Canterbury try as First Scoring Play but take a Tigers’ win by 1-12 points.
Players to consider for First Tryscorer include Josh Morris, Jamal Idris or Bryson Goodwin for the Bulldogs or Chris Lawrence, Lote Tuqiri or Blake Ayshford for Wests Tigers. You might also be interested in:
