Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Sevilla winger Jesus Navas.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed he will look to bring in a midfielder before the transfer window closes as a result of Alex Song’s £15million move to Barcelona, and although Nuri Sahin looks set to complete a loan move from Real Madrid before the weekend, a number of other players are still being linked with moves to Emirates Stadium.

Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila and Anderlecht’s Lucas Biglia are believed to be on Arsenal’s radar, in addition to Barcelona’s Ibrahim Afellay (see Related Articles), but according to AS, 26-year-old Navas is also a target for the Gunners.

Navas, who was linked with Arsenal last year, is under contract until 2015 and has also been linked with Inter Milan.

According to the report coming out of Spain, Wenger has renewed his interest in the £15million-rated Spain international on the suggestion of summer signing Santi Cazorla.

Cazorla earlier this week urged the club to sign a midfielder and a striker to replace Song as well as Robin van Persie.

Van Persie completed a £24m move to Manchester United last week and the Spaniard at the weekend had said: “It’s clear that he [Van Persie] is a great player, a spectacular player, and obviously we would all have preferred it if he had stayed.

“Song has gone as well and there are still ten days left in the market.

“Obviously it’s important to replace players like that because they were so important for the team.”
