Chelsea Fc Set To Sign Cesar Azpilicueta As He Says Goodbye To Marseille

Chelsea FC-bound Cesar Azpilicueta says goodbye to Marseille fans

Chelsea look set to finally complete the signing of Cesar Azpilicueta after the defender said goodbye to Marseille’s fans.

Azpilicueta is Chelsea’s top defensive transfer target as manager Roberto Di Matteo looks to replace Jose Bosingwa, who left the club at the end of last season, and Marseille have already admitted he is available for sale.

Reports in France at the weekend had suggested the two clubs were yet to agree a fee for the 22-year-old, although it was expected that Sunday’s 2-0 win over Sochaux was to be his last game for Marseille after his representatives have travelled to London to discuss personal terms with the Blues.

According to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea will pay around £7million for the Spaniard.

“Everyone thinks it’s been a tough time for me with my thoughts spilt between Marseille and Chelsea,” Azpilicueta said.

“If my departure can help Marseille’s finances, then it is a good deal for everyone concerned.

“I thank the club’s fans for their standing ovation.

“They have always been good to me to me, even when things haven’t gone well.”

Chelsea are also expected to bring in a striker before the transfer window closes at the end of the month
