Chelsea Fc Right To Let Romelu Lukaku Leave On Loan Insists Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho insists Chelsea FC right to let Romelu Lukaku leave on loan

Jose Mourinho has said he does no regret letting Romelu Lukaku leave Chelsea on loan this season, claiming that “it is one thing to play for Everton and another to play for Chelsea”.

Lukaku has impressed since joining Everton on a season-long loan deal, scoring three goals in two games, while Mourinho has seen Samuel Eto’o, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres fail to score a single goal between them so far this season.

The Blues boss is without Torres for three weeks with a knee injury, but insists he was right to let Lukaku move to Merseyside.

When asked if he had regrets over the move, Mourinho told reporters: “No. It is one thing to play for Everton and another to play for Chelsea.”

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Sunday’s trip to Norwich, the Portuguese also called for patience from the club’s fans.

Ahead of this weekend’s games, Chelsea are four points adrift of leaders Arsenal having won just one of their last four league games.

But Mourinho told reporters: “Every weekend someone can lose points. In relation to my team at this moment we are not strong enough to be dominant in every match and win consecutively. That is my point of view.

“I think the league will be open until the end. At this moment some teams are being helped by the fixtures, some are more difficult than others. This season can go all the way, and I think that is good.

“Manchester United have the most difficult one, immediately followed by us. I think by the end of November, that is the moment we will find out somebody is in a little bit better situation than others.

“What I like is my team to be active and not reactive. In the Champions League in the week, the team wanted to be active. This is the mentality I want and I always think it is more difficult to change mentality over tactics.”
