Juventus FC confirm interest in Chelsea FC target Edinson Cavani

Juventus have confirmed their interest in Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Chelsea, like Juve, are keen on bringing in a world-class forward before the summer transfer window closes on Friday as they look to replace Didier Drogba, who left Stamford Bridge at the end of last season.

Reports last week had suggested Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo, who has already spent around £80million this summer, is ready to offer £35m for Cavani, who earlier this summer admitted he was interested in playing in the Premier League.

But Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has admitted the Uruguay international is on the Italian champions’ radar.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Marotta ruled out a move for Barcelona forward David Villa.

“I can rule out any interest or negotiations for David Villa,” he said.

“He is a great player but not the type we are looking for and nobody has talked with our permission with his agent or Barcelona.”

But he added: “We want a striker in the style of Edinson Cavani or [Fernando] Llorente, who are our primary targets along with Edin Dzeko.”
