CRB End Six-Game Wait for First Brasileiro Série B Victory of the Season

CRB Finally Win First Série B Game of the Season

It may have taken them six attempts, but CRB have finally tasted victory for the first time in the 2022 Brasileiro Série B.

They downed Sampaio Correa 2-1 at the Estádio Rei Pelé on Monday, but they were made to work hard for the win in a game in which they were second best for large periods.

The damage was done early on in the contest for Galo da Praia, with Anselmo opening the scoring courtesy of an assist from Yago in the 18th minute.

Richard Rodrigues set up the second goal for Fabinho just 13 minutes later, and CRB found themselves with an unprecedented two-goal cushion with an hour still to play.

As expected, they retreated into their shells thereafter, and that allowed Sampaio to dominate proceedings – they enjoyed 62% possession of the ball and fired in 18 shots on goal.

However, the only fruits of their labour were a penalty from Padova in the 86th minute, and for all their pressing the visitors could not find a second goal – leaving CRB to celebrate a momentous triumph.
