Darwin Nunez transfer rumors intensify

The saga many were anticipating doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Erling Haaland looks set to complete his transfer to Manchester City.

With Haaland on the move, many of Europe’s biggest clubs are now moving onto other targets. High on the list will be Uruguayan hitman Darwin Nunez. Nunez has had a superb season for Benfica scoring 26 goals in the Portuguese league as well as finding the back of the net six times in this season’s Champions League.

Nunez and his representatives have already made it clear that he will be plying his trade elsewhere next season, something incoming Benfica manager Roger Schmidt is aware of.

Reportedly leading the charge for the Nunez’s signature is Manchester United. United have suffered an incredibly difficult season and new boss Erik ten Hag needs to oversee a major rebuild at Old Trafford. According to reports, ten Hag sees Nunez as the ideal forward to start his new revolution.

Available for around £70 million Nunez will attract interest from across Europe. It will be interesting to see whether United still have the power to persuade Nunez to join them this summer.
