Lautoro Martinez leads Inter comeback as title bid stays alive

Martinez helps Inter stay in the Serie A title race

Argentinian forward Lautoro Martinez scored two goals as title-chasing Inter Milan produced a stirring comeback to beat Empoli 4-2. The win keeps Inter firmly in the title hunt, with Inter trailing bitter rivals AC Milan by just two points. Only two games of the season remain.

The match couldn’t have started any worse for Inter who found themselves two goals behind after just twenty-eight minutes of play.

Inter didn’t panic and showed why they are the defending Serie A champions. An own goal helped them on their way before Lautoro Martinez scored his first goal of the game with a well-taken first-time finish.

Things were to get better for Inter, as midway through the second half, Martinez grabbed his second with a superb instinctive volley.

Chilean Alexis Sanchez rounded off the win with a goal in added time.

Martinez is widely believed to be leaving the club this summer due to Inter’s precarious financial position. Martinez has been in deadly form scoring six goals in his last six appearances.

If this is to be Martinez’s last season at the club he is making sure he is going out with a bang.
