Liverpool Fc Target Klaas Jan Huntelaar Yet To Agree New Schalke 04 Deal

Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, has admitted he is yet to agree a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

Reports last month had suggested Huntelaar, who is out of contract next summer, was being lined up by Liverpool as a replacement for Andy Carroll, who joined West Ham on loan shortly before the summer transfer window closed.

The Reds are still believed to be showing interest in the Netherlands international, along with several other Premier League clubs, while according to reports in Italy at the weekend, Juventus are also keen.

Should he not sign a new contract before the end of the year, Huntelaar would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January, while Schalke could be prepared to sell during the winter transfer window to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

And while Huntelaar has not indicated that talks have been completely called off, he has confirmed that he is yet to reach an agreement.

Speaking to Sport Bild, the Dutchman said: “We’re talking, but so far there is nothing concrete to report.”

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt last month admitted Huntelaar’s future at the club was “uncertain”.

Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham have also shown interest in the player.
