Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder, who in recent days has once again been linked with a move to Manchester United, still appears to be on Anzhi Makhachkala’s radar.
Sneijder has been constantly linked with a move to the Premier League over the past couple of seasons, with a move to Man Utd believed to have come close in summer 2011.
Reports in the Dutch media last week suggested Inter could be ready to offload the Netherlands international as soon as January due to budget concerns at the club, and that has led to renewed speculation about a move to Old Trafford.
However, big-spending Anzhi are believed to be keen on signing the 28-year-old, and although agent Soren Lerby insists the former Real Madrid midfielder has no plans to move to Russia in the New Year, Anzhi coach Guus Hiddink has refused to rule out tabling a bid.
“I know Sneijder well and I rate him very highly,” Hiddink was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur.
“You will have to ask him what his intentions are.”
Speaking last week, Lerby had told Sky Italia: “Wesley has no intention at all to go to Anzhi. All these rumours are false.
“I don’t know where these stories originated. Perhaps someone should take the effort to ask Anzhi andHiddink about it.
“Sneijder remains an Inter player for now and he’s feeling very well at the club.”
