Friday’s round up of the top transfer stories from the past 24 hours…

– Chelsea could launch a surprise move for Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema in January, according to the Daily Express.

– Sir Alex Ferguson has repeated his claim that Wayne Rooney asked to leave Manchester United at the end of last season – but insists he never fell out with the striker before he stepped down at Old Trafford, telling American television network PBS: “He asked away. He came in the day after we had won the title. Nothing happened that I would get upset about.”

– Marco Reus, who has been linked with Arsenal, will not be sold next year, Borussia Dortmund have insisted.

– Dortmund are working on a move to re-sign Shinji Kagawa from Manchester United after making him their top January target, according to Metro.

– Arsenal are the bookmakers’ favourites to win the race to sign Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona next year.

Bookmakers Paddy Power make the Gunners 5/6 favourites to be Fabregas’ next club at time of writing, ahead of United (3/1) and Bayern Munich (16/1).

– Italian champions Juventus are targeting Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, according to the Daily Mirror.

– Manchester United youngster Adnan Januzaj’s contract negotiations stalled following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson as manager last summer, his agent has confirmed.

– Manchester United are watching Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, according to the Daily Mirror.
