An Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain goal was the difference as Arsenal beat Chelsea 1-0 in Sunday’s Community Shield to claim the first piece of silverware of the season.

64 days after lifted the FA Cup, they continued their successful run at Wembley with a win over their London rivals.

The only goal of the game came after 24 minutes when Theo Walcott picked up the ball in the middle of the park before finding Oxlade-Chamberlain out on the right wing.

Having cut in on his left foot, Oxlade-Chamberlain rifled a strike into the top-left corner to give Arsenal the advantage.

Chelsea had opportunities, with Ramires and Eden Hazard enjoying the best chances but they were unable to keep their respective efforts under the crossbar.
Blues’ keeper Thibaut Courtois kept his side in it late on with a couple of fine saves but it was the north Londoners who claimed the early bragging rights for the season, with Arsene Wenger’s first ever victory against a Jose Mourinho side.
