Talisman Florian Thauvin Set for Tigres Return Ahead of Clausura Semi-Finals

Tigres Welcome Back Thauvin for Clausura Semi-Final

Tigres UANL’s hopes of winning the Liga MX Clausura title have been given a major boost by the return of Florian Thauvin.

The Frenchman was absent from their quarter-final win over Cruz Azul with a thigh injury, but head coach Miguel Herrera has confirmed that Thauvin will be fit enough to return against the defending champions Atlas in the last four.

Herrera had named the 29-year-old amongst his substitutes for the second leg against Atlas on Sunday, however later admitted the player was not ready at that point to get involved too heavily. “It was difficult to count on him to play [on Sunday],” the manager confirmed. “But today he’s ready, we can use him.”

Thauvin has scored four goals and assisted three more in 19 appearances this term, and as a World Cup winner with more than 350 club games to his name, he brings a wealth of experience to a semi-final in which managing pressure and expectation will be vital.
