Southampton FC vs. Liverpool FC – Live Stream, Team News and Capital One Cup Match Preview

Southampton vs. Liverpool takes place tonight in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.

The game takes place at St Mary’s and is scheduled to start at 19:45 GMT.

Team News:
Southampton will be without Jose Fonte (knee).

Liverpool will assess Philippe Coutinho (hamstring) ahead of kick-off, while Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson (both foot) are in contention, although both may have to settle for a place on the bench.

What they’ve said ahead of kick-off:

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman: “It’s very important because Southampton only have two opportunities to win a title – the FA Cup and the League Cup – so it’s important because we want to reach the semi-finals.

“It’s a great game to play. It’s sold out and Liverpool are doing well under a new manager.

“We know Liverpool like to press and if you beat the press then you have a lot of options and possibilities. We showed that in the second half against Manchester City.”

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp: “The biggest fault you can make is to think about the next round. Only Southampton. They’re pretty hot on this game, they’ve lost their last two games and they want to strike back.

“The quarter-finals is still far away from the final. But I’m excited and looking forward to the game. I can’t say yet what team I’ll play.

“I hear Southampton and Liverpool are not the best friends, so it will be a feisty game.”
