Wisconsin Badgers vs TCU Horned Frogs Preview – Rose Bowl

Pasadena, California hosts the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.

The TCU Horned Frogs are a team with something to prove as they failed to make the BCS National Championship game despite going undefeated during the regular season. The major argument against the Horned Frogs for the final was that they did not play a strong enough schedule and truthfully TCU did not have as many quality wins as either the Oregon Ducks or the Auburn Tigers – the two teams in the BCS Championship game.

But if Texas Christian can beat the Wisconsin Badgers in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day by a convincing margin then the Horned Frogs will make some people wonder if they were overlooked.

The Wisconsin Badgers are anything but a pushover however as they played their season in the Big Ten and only suffered one defeat – a road loss to the dangerous Michigan State Spartans.

Tomorrow’s game will take place at 4:30pm ET and television coverage will be provided by ESPN. It is the first BCS Bowl Game to be played during the 2010/11 college football season and you have to wonder if Wisconsin, ranked #5, are poised for the minor upset over the higher ranked Horned Frogs (#3).   It’s true that TCU have a ton of blowout games to their credit but what cannot be overlooked with Wisconsin is how strong their November was as the Badgers went 4-0 during the month while going +151 on net points in those 4 games. That’s an average margin of victory of about 37 points and it was over Big Ten competition (Purdue, Indiana, Michigan, and Northwestern).

83 points for against Indiana and 70 points for against Northwestern are highly impressive scoring totals and the Horned Frogs are in for a battle on Saturday.

Prediction: Wisconsin by 9.
