2010 French Open Results – Justine Henin Advances to Second Round

Henin returns to Roland Garros with a win over Tsvetana Pironkova.

Justine Henin made a winning return to the French open as she advanced in straight sets today with a win over Tsvetana Pironkova 6-4, 6-3.  Despite the win Henin did NOT look sharp as her serve was off and she gave up several break point opportunities that a player better than Pironkova would likely have capitalized on.  Henin’s status as favorite to win the French Open is somewhat questionable at this point and we’re advising not touching her short odds in the futures market for the outright winner at Roland Garros.

Henin now awaits the winner of Klara Zakopalova and Katarina Srebotnik and may face Maria Sharapova as early as the third round.  If Henin’s form doesn’t improve in round 2, the Russian may have enough to upset Henin at that point in the draw.
