Novak Djokovic remains world number one in the latest ATP tennis rankings, ahead of Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka.

Rafael Nadal moves up one place to number nine in the world after claiming his third title of the year on Sunday.

Nadal defeated Fabio Fognini 7-5 7-5 in the final of the Hamburg Open to claim his third title of the year.

The win marked a return to form for the Spaniard, who was competing for the first time since being knocked out of Wimbledon at the second round stage by qualifier Dustin Brown.

Nadal had already lost twice to Fognini on his favoured clay surface in an injury-blighted year, but it proved to be third time lucky as he secured a hard-fought win in a tight final that saw 12 breaks of serve.

Nadal, who has now won 67 career singles titles, said: “It was a very tough final, it is an important title for me.

“It was a great match, many great points, many breaks, we fought hard.”

47 of Nadal’s 67 titles have been won on clay.

Marin Cilic, Kevin Anderson and John Isner are also climbers in this week’s Top 20.
