Garin survives Ruusuvuori, moves into Rome Masters Round of 16

Garin advances into the next round

Prized Chilean netter Cristian Garin kept his composure under tremendous pressure to survive Emil Ruusuvuori 6-4, 6-4 in the Round of 32 of the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome.

Garin found himself in a world of trouble early in the match, with Ruusuvuori racing to an early 3-0 lead. However, the Chilean managed to recover and won the next five games to take a commanding 5-3 advantage before sealing the set on his next service.

The 25-year-old Garin continued his onslaught into the second, even breaking the Finn’s serve and taking a 3-1 lead. However, he subsequently suffered a mishap when he went to the net as he slipped and wound up stuck next to the post.

Fortunately, it wasn’t as serious as it looked as Garin was able to brush it off and secure the win to move into the next Round.

With the victory, Garin moves into the Round of 16, wherein he will face the winner of the Marin-Cilic-Cameron Norrie match.
