Stanislas Wawrinka goes into his third round match vs Novak Djokovic, the top seed in Monte Carlo, on a 6 match winning streak.  He won his second career ATP title in Casablanca last week and continued that vein of form in Monaco this week, defeating Victor Hanescu and Ernests Gulbis comfortably in straight sets.

Wawrinka’s consistency has been outstanding this year, he is yet to lose to an opponent ranked outside the top 20 in 2010. However Djokovic, the top seed this week, has won seven of their previous nine matches.

These two have contested some big matches on clay and it’s generally been close but Djokovic has always found a way through. He won 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the 2008 Rome Masters final and 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the semi-finals here last year.

Although Djokovic suffered a form blip for the two Masters Series events in the States, he was quite outstanding on clay last year and looked in great form during his 6-2, 6-3 win over Florent Serra in round two.

He will have to raise his game for Wawrinka but their past history shows that Djokovic tends to do just that against the Swiss.
