Top AEW Signings of 2022

2022 has been a big year for All Elite Wrestling. Not only have they signed a huge partnership with New Japan Pro-Wrestling but they have also signed a lot of big-name free agents. A number of names have joined AEW this year and the company seems to now fully be competing with the top dog, that being WWE. Here we are going to look at the Top 5 AEW Signings of 2022, so far!

Number 5: Page VanZant

Following in Rhonda Rousey’s footsteps, VanZant is another female former MMA star that has switched the octagon for the squared circle. VanZant hopes to bring fans from mixed martial arts over to the sport of professional wrestling and so far she seems to be a hit with the current AEW fans.

VanZant is yet to debut in the ring but she is hoping to lace up her boots as soon as possible. With the amount of pain she was able to handle in the octagon, fans are sure that she will be a star in the ring. Many praise AEW for the freedom they give their stars and fingers crossed we will see some great things from the former MMA star.

Number 4: William Regal

William Regal is one of the most underrated and underappreciated wrestlers of all time. The blood, sweat, and tears that the man has put into the WWE over the years is nothing but admirable. After a long career with the WWE Regal became their Head of Global Recruiting to try and entice international stars to come and join the company.

That’s why it was such a shock that in 2022 Regal jumped ship and left WWE to join All Elite Wrestling. This has been a huge hit with fans and Regal has received nothing but cheers and love since his signing with the company. So far he has formed a stable with John Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and Bryan Danielson called the Blackpool Combat Club which seems to be going over really well with the fans.

Number 3: Toni Storm

The Aussie star received a huge pop from the fans when she debuted for AEW earlier this year. Storm had previously spent a few years with the WWE where she was building momentum which never really seemed to go anywhere. At the end of her WWE career she was feuding with Charlotte Flair, daughter of “Nature Boy” Ric Flair and her last match for the company was in December 2021.

She is one of the most popular current female stars in professional wrestling and fans are expecting big things from the wrestler. In AEW she is already tearing up the women’s division with an impressive 4-0 record as it stands. Many can see her getting a shot at the TBS Championship which is currently being held by Jade Cargill.

Number 2: Jeff Hardy

With Matt Hardy joining All Elite Wrestling in 2020 fans knew it was just a matter of time before his younger brother, “The Charismatic Engima” followed in his footsteps. That’s why when Jeff debuted in 2022 fans went absolutely wild. Jeff Hardy is one of the all-time greats of professional wrestling and helped shape so many things that wrestling fans know and love today.

Hardy a pioneer of the ladder match has already had his fair share of great matches in AEW so far in his short time with the company and many are looking forward to seeing the influence that he is going to have on the company going into the future. Hardy being 44 now still is ready to put his body on the line for wrestling fans and that’s why ultimately one day he will be regarded as one of the best to ever do it.

Number 1: Samoa Joe

It was a surprise when news was leaked that the WWE had released one of their top stars, that being “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe. Joe had been one of the hottest stars in the company after joining WWE in 2015. Joe went on a tear for the company and fans were shocked when he was released as he was one of the biggest names at the time.

When AEW fans finally got to hear Joe’s music they went absolutely wild. Since Joe joined the company he has been a force to be reckoned with and many feel he can carry on the legacy that he started in TNA and Ring of Honour. Joe is currently the Ring of Honour.
