Team News:
Atletico will be without midfielder Koke (hamstring).

Real Madrid have Gareth Bale (calf) back in contention, while defender Sergio Ramos (shoulder) is also available.

James Rodriguez (thigh) misses out for Los Blancos.

What they’ve said ahead of kick-off:

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone (on heading into the game following back-to-back defeats by Villarreal and Benfica): “It doesn’t surprise me at all what is happening to us. We have a lot of young players in the team and the first 10 games were going to be very difficult.”

Atletico captain Gabi: “Against Benfica, we did all that we could to win. We are in a difficult situation but we need to move on. In terms of our play, we are on the right path but need to improve a lot more.”

Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez (on Bale and Ramos): “The two have trained and will be in the squad. They have been cleared to play.

“Match-fitness is another thing and if they start or not we will decide. Even at less than 100% they are two very useful players for us.

“The derby is always a difficult game. It’s always complicated to win at Atletico. They are a top team but we are ready for them. I was surprised (Atletico) lost on Wednesday.”
