Golden State Warriors win the NBA Championship

The Golden State Warriors have beat the Boston Celtics for the NBA Championship in what was a superb series for the Dubs. Golden State after losing the first game in the series managed to scrape it back and took the finals in 6 games. It was a tremendous display for the Warriors in Game 6 and Steph Curry really showed fans and sceptics alike that he deserves to be up there with the likes of Michael Jordan and LeBron James after his performances in the playoffs. Curry finished the game with 34 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds showing how impactful he was to his team’s success. This is now the fourth championship that Curry has won alongside his team after being drafted to San Francisco in 2009 with the 7th pick.

Even though Golden State are the ones lifting the gold it is not to say that the Boston Celtics did not give it their all. To say that the Celtics reached the finals with such a young core shows the promising future the team has in its wake. Brown and Tatum were superb in the playoffs but being so young must come with a lot of pressure, especially on the grandest stage of them all. Tatum appeared to fall at the final hurdle after great performances in the first round, semis, and eastern conference finals. Boston should not be too hard on themselves however as reaching second place in the finals is still a monumental achievement and one to be proud of.

Now after a long and strenuous series, both teams can use the off-season to relax, recuperate and come back ready for next season. The Warriors however will no doubt be partying to their heart’s content to celebrate the newest addition to their already extensive trophy cabinet.
